We the Anglican Parish of Batemans Bay, are part of the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn, and the world wide Anglican Communion. We believe in the Holy Trinity - Father , Son and Holy Spirit: Three persons of one substance, power and eternity. We believe that Salvation is found in no one else, (other than Jesus) for there is no other name under heaven given to all by whom we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) We believe in the life giving power of God's Spirit as given to the church at Pentecost. We believe that the Bible contains all that is necessary for salvation and that it is God's inspired word for His people. We see ourselves as seeking to follow the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19-20) "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age." As part of the commission to make disciples, we are committed to seeing people brought into the Kingdom of God by their commitment to Jesus Christ and their ongoing growth in discipleship. On-going growth means a process of 'maturing' in Christ in order that we are transformed into his likeness. (2 Corinthians 3:18) In our worship, group life, and all activities, we want to see people growing in the love and fellowship of Jesus Christ and sharing this love and fellowship with others. We acknowledge that we are a member of the Anglican worldwide communion, with its commitment to Word and Sacrament. We also cooperate with other Christian Churches in the area, where appropriate, in acknowledgement of the fact that all Christians are "One in Christ." (Galatians 3:28) In the power of God's Spirit, we believe that the gifts of the Spirit are available to His church today in order to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the Body of Christ may be built up. (Ephesians 4:12) As part of our regular worship we confess as the faith of the Church, the creed as agreed at the council of Nicaea in the fourth century AD, commonly known as the Nicene Creed. © Copyright, Anglican Church Batemans Bay, 2008 |
